Using AFU Funding
The Autism Funding Program (AFU) in British Columbia provides financial support to families to help cover the cost of eligible intervention services for autistic children. I am pleased to offer my services to families through AFU funding for children aged 6 and up. This allows you to use your funding to access both Advocacy Support and Educational Guidance services.
Funding Eligibility
My services are approved for those aged 6 and over. If your child is under six, my services are available via direct payment.
Approved Services
Advocacy Support
Advocacy Support services are designed to help you navigate the school system, understand your child’s rights, and develop a clear plan for advocacy. Whether you are looking to resolve specific issues or need ongoing support, I can provide tailored advice and strategies to meet your needs.
Educational Guidance
Educational Guidance Sessions focus on helping you understand educational policies, develop learning profiles, and make informed decisions about your child’s education. This service is ideal if you have specific questions or need advice without requiring full advocacy support.
Request for Payment (RTP) Information
To access funding for my services, you will need to submit a Request for Payment (RTP) under the “behaviour consultant” category through the AFU portal. Here’s how to request approval for each type of service:
• Advocacy Support: For advocacy support services, submit an RTP requesting an initial approval of 5 hours at $140/hour, totalling $700.
• Educational Guidance: For educational guidance services, submit an RTP requesting an approval for a miniumum of 1 hour at $140/hr. Include a brief description, such as “educational guidance and consulting,” to ensure your request is processed promptly.
If you need assistance with this process or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am here to help you navigate the AFU funding system and ensure you can access the support your family needs.
